DGM arrests 136 illegal Haitians in Juan Dolio

JUAN DOLIO, San Pedro de Macorís.- The General Directorate of Immigration (DGM), during an interdiction campaign held in this coastal community, detained 136 Haitians caught without legal documentation to remain in the country.

The foreigners, 48 men and 46 women, accompanied by 42 minors, were apprehended in an operation that focused on respect for the inalienable rights and dignity of each of the immigrants. They were transferred to the Haina detention center for due process verification, fingerprinting and photography, and vetting in accordance with the laws that regulate the matter.

After the procedures are completed, they will be transferred to the binational border crossing points and handed over to the immigration authorities of their country of origin to complete the deportation process.

The interdictions are part of the DGM's strategic plan to combat informal immigration, human trafficking, and other practices that jeopardize public order and national security. They are carried out with the support of tactical units from state security agencies, especially the Army, Navy, Air Force, and National Police.

The DGM emphasized that the deportations are not arbitrary expulsions, but rather justified cases of violations of Law 285-04, which regulates migration flows in the country. They are carried out based on safe and orderly work, complying with all regulations and in accordance with the international conventions adopted by the country.
