DGM arrests two Dominicans caught transporting undocumented Haitians

BARAHONA.- Agents from the General Directorate of Immigration (DGM) arrested two Dominicans here after they were caught transporting Haitian nationals in irregular immigration status in separate vehicles.

The DGM, in a press release, reported that the named Darinelis Duval Encarnación, ID 402-2040366-7, and José Medina Pérez, ID 076-00118467-0, were detained in random checks carried out in the La Mina sector, here, and that both had their vehicles impounded and will be brought before the Justice, accused of trafficking undocumented immigrants.

Duval Encarnación was driving the white Mitsubishi truck, license plate # L238797, and was accompanied by two undocumented Haitians, while Medina Pérez was driving the black Toyota pickup truck, license plate # L263210, in which he was transporting three undocumented immigrants, two men and a woman. The Haitians were detained for vetting and returned to their home country.

The DGM's action is part of strengthening its efforts to control migration flows, within the framework of Law 285-04, to ensure that all citizens, regardless of their origin, are properly documented and registered, thereby safeguarding national security and sovereignty.
