DGM coordinates the installation of offices in Barahona, Azua and San Jose de Ocoa

AZUA.- The General Directorate of Immigration (DGM) is coordinating the installation of offices in Barahona, San José de Ocoa and this city, to increase interdiction operations and expedite and facilitate the services that the agency offers to national and foreign citizens residing in these areas.

The head of the DGM, Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester, ARD, held meetings with the Governors and authorities of these provinces, whom he visited to explain the purposes of the facilities, which will allow for improved supervision and application of Law 285-04, in compliance with the guidelines of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, to strengthen immigration control throughout the country.

During these meetings, the official and senior military officer stressed the importance of strengthening immigration control and ensuring compliance with current regulations, facilitating more efficient management of repatriation procedures for irregular immigrants.

He stressed that the migration phenomenon is not limited to Haitian nationals, but involves various nationalities, so these measures seek to organize and regularize the presence of foreigners in the country, always in compliance with the law and respect for human rights.

The new offices will have biometric technology and the necessary resources to streamline immigration processes and ensure efficient handling of repatriations.

Lee Ballester announced that this expansion plan will be extended to other provinces based on budget availability and the flow of resources, aligned with the national security and immigration order strategies promoted by President Abinader.

The meetings were attended by, along with Lee Ballester and other DGM officials, the governors of the aforementioned districts, as well as mayors, businessmen from the agricultural sector and representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the Army, the Navy, the Air Force of the Dominican Republic, the National Police and DIGESETT.
