DGM detains 1,155 illegal aliens and deports another 744 to their country of origin
Cita de departamento de comunicaciones en mayo 22, 2025, 11:53 amSANTO DOMINGO.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) detained 1,155 undocumented Haitians and repatriated another 744 as part of interdiction operations deployed across the country, as part of the strengthening of immigration controls ordered by the National Government.
The activities were carried out in accordance with national and international regulations, guaranteeing respect, protection, and the rights of all people, especially minors, pregnant women, and the elderly. The activities included areas such as Santiago, La Vega, Mao, Santiago Rodríguez, La Altagracia, Azua, Barahona, Puerto Plata, Jarabacoa, Pedernales, Dajabón, Bonao, Miches, and sectors of Greater Santo Domingo, including Los Girasoles, Av. Independencia, Cabayona, Manoguayabo, Los Frailes, and the area surrounding the Juan Carlos Bridge, among others.
These operations include arrests carried out by the Specialized Corps for Land Border Security (CESFRONT), with 121 people, 534 by the Dominican Republic Army (ERD), and 27 by the National Police. These institutions act in coordination with the DGM (General Directorate of General Security), as well as other security agencies such as the ARD, the FARD (Foundation of the Dominican Republic), Ciutran, Digesett, the Public Prosecutor's Office, and the National Police, among others.
Regarding repatriations, 744 foreigners with irregular immigration status were returned to their country of origin and handed over to the Haitian immigration authorities through the border points of Dajabón (258), Elías Piña (265), Jimaní (146) and Pedernales (75), after being registered, processed and purged in the detention centers for undocumented foreigners available to the DGM.
The DGM reiterated that it carries out migration management in a coordinated, transparent manner aligned with human rights and the dignity of individuals, while strengthening national sovereignty.
