DGM detains 1,510 illegal aliens and repatriates another 680 to their country of origin

Those arrested, in compliance with the regulations of Law 285-04 that regulates the presence of foreigners in the national territory, correspond to Greater Santo Domingo, where 209 people were apprehended in the sectors of María Auxiliadora, Ensanche Luperón, Capotillo and Avenida Duarte; Santiago de los Caballeros (122), La Vega (86), Mao / Santiago Rodríguez (133), Punta Cana (109), Azua (1), Barahona (32) and Puerto Plata (55). In addition to them are those arrested by the Dominican Republic Army (630), by the CESFRONT (95) and by the National Police (38).
The interdictions were also carried out in coordination with the Navy, the Air Force, the Ciutran (National Commission for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities), the Digesett (National Institute of Criminal Investigation), and the Public Prosecutor's Office. They were carried out with respect for human rights, the safety of the detainees, and all the guarantees of national and international law.
Those deported yesterday, a total of 680, were handed over to their country's authorities through the binational border gates of Dajabón (280), Elías Piña (232), Jimaní (132), and another 36 through Pedernales. They came from the DGM's detention centers for undocumented immigrants in various districts, where they were processed for identification and cleared in accordance with the law.
In a press release, the DGM explained the importance of its actions to contain, deter, and control irregular migration to the Dominican Republic, in order to safeguard national security and sovereignty.
