DGM guarantees security and respect for human rights during immigration operations

SANTO DOMINGO.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported that interdiction teams from Greater Santo Domingo, during operations carried out yesterday, detained 510 undocumented Haitian citizens at different points in the National District, Greater Santo Domingo, Pedro Brand, and Boca Chica, in compliance with Law 285-04 on Migration and its implementing regulations.

These actions were carried out with priority respect for the fundamental rights of the people involved, ensuring dignified treatment, adequate safety and hygiene conditions, and due process at all times, in accordance with national and international human rights regulations.

The operations took place on strategic avenues and sectors such as John F. Kennedy Avenue, the Duarte Highway (kilometers 20 and 28), as well as in urban areas such as Los Ríos, Girasoles, Manoguayabo, Bayona, Herrera, Los Alcarrizos, Ciudad Satélite, Cancino, Los Cocos, and Los Coquitos de Mendoza. In Santo Domingo Este, operations were carried out in Mendoza (Charles de Gaulle Avenue), Los Mina, Villa Mella, and Boca Chica.

The institution reaffirms its commitment to responsible migration management, based on legality, the protection of human dignity, and the strengthening of security and public order.

Likewise, the DGM reiterates that it will continue its operations to locate, detain, and repatriate irregular migrants, always ensuring that these processes are carried out in strict adherence to the principles of justice, equity, and respect for the rights of all.
