DGM INTERVENES CIUDAD JUAN BOSCH IN JOINT OPERATION WITH THE FFAA AND THE PN

The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) in collaboration with the Armed Forces (FFAA) and Members of the Special Unit against Riots of the National Police (PN) carried out an interdiction operation in Ciudad Juan Bosch, with the objective of identifying undocumented Haitian nationals and submitting them under the current immigration laws of the Dominican Republic.

The operation carried out today was reinforced with members of the Armed Forces and the elite body of the National Police in response to the aggression carried out yesterday by Haitian citizens with illegal immigration status.

In the operation, 385 undocumented Haitian nationals, of both sexes, were arrested.

Mr. Enrique García, General Director of Immigration, said that the detainees will be purged for their subsequent repatriation to their country of origin.

The DGM warned that it will not tolerate any foreigner, in conditions of illegality, regardless of citizenship, who nonetheless confronts with violence the authorities who have every right to intervene against illegal foreigners.

The Immigration Directorate reiterates that it will protect national sovereignty from the scope of its responsibility, and will confront vandalism by foreigners in all areas, always respecting human rights and due process of people.

Mr. García recalled that it is not the first time that undocumented Haitians violently confront the Immigration Control units that work in detention and repatriation operations carried out by the institution and warns foreign and other illegal vandals that everything will fall to them the weight of the law and justice and will answer for their acts of vandalism.
