DGM urges citizens not to use third parties to request permission for minors.
Cita de departamento de comunicaciones en diciembre 20, 2024, 4:17 pmSanto Domingo.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) urged citizens who require permits for minors to travel abroad to carry out their procedures directly with the institution and, if they use third parties, to validate those they select, since in some cases we have received people who have been subject to fraud and deception.
The agency responsible for regulating migratory flows in the national territory explained in a press release that the DGM only charges a tax of two thousand pesos (RD$2,000.00) to grant the permit and that approvals are made in 48 business hours, after the citizen uploads the required documents on the website and deposits them in the different offices of the Migration Certifications department, which are located in the National District, Santiago, Puerto Plata and Punta Cana. This payment is made through the Banco de Reservas.
The DGM also stated that interested parties do not have to go to the institution to collect the permits because they are sent directly through the portal created for such purposes and by the email selected by the user.
“The requirements are on our website and on social media. They consist of: A power of attorney legalized by the Attorney General's Office, signed by the parents, by one of them or by the legal guardian or by the person to whom the parents delegate that responsibility. A copy of the passport of the father, mother or third party traveling, a copy of the passport of the minor (with biometric data), photos of the minor, a copy of the ID of the authorizing parent and the birth certificate of the minor are also required,” he added.
The DGM issued the appeal because we are in the high season, when there are a large number of applications being processed and there are people not linked to the agency who offer to speed up the process of obtaining the document and who charge excessive amounts for their services. The institution distanced itself from these actions and recommended that those interested use the institution's resources directly.
The DGM reminds that at this time of year the number of people who send their children on holiday abroad increases considerably, which is why the number of applications increases. It took the opportunity to recommend that the population complete their paperwork on time to avoid problems with the certification of travel authorisation for minors.
