Director of Migration reiterates his commitment to continue implementing actions against illegal migration in the country

Santo Domingo, RD.- The General Director of Migration, Venancio Alcántara, reiterated his commitment
in strengthening migration policies and reinforcing the actions carried out by the
institution to counter irregular migration to the Dominican Republic.Alcántara, assured that it is a mission assigned to the institution he directs to enforce the
law and regulations, regarding the year that has just begun, in which he said he has arranged to increase the
routine actions that are carried out throughout the national geography against the irregular transit of
foreign.He gave as an example that between the 2nd and 15th of this month of January they have been detained and repatriated
some 8,977 foreigners, mostly Haitians in irregular migratory conditions in the country,
which evidences the result of the interdictions that are carried out daily, which ensured
they will continueThrough a press release issued by the institution's Communications Department, said
that the operations were carried out in coordination with the Armed Forces and the National Police,
under the coordination and supervision of the recently created Immigration Interdiction Team to
the accompaniment of these actions and ensure that they are carried out within the framework of the
respect and guarantee to the integrity of people, respecting international agreements, the law and the

compliance with the immigration policies promoted by the superior government led by the president
