Santo Domingo. _ 40,223 foreigners in an irregular situation have been deported and repatriated to their country of origin for not complying with the provisions of the General Immigration Law 285-04 and its implementing regulations, decree 631-11, which demonstrates the capabilities of the Armed Forces.
The detention of illegal aliens by the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) is carried out in collaboration with the Armed Forces, the National Army, the Dominican Air Force, the Ciudad Tranquila Task Force (CIUTRAN), the National Police and the Public Prosecutor's Office in different neighborhoods throughout the country.
The Director General of Migration, Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester (ARD), indicated that from the first day at the head of the institution he has been vigilant in ensuring that the processes comply with the protocols, with respect for human rights, dignity and the integrity of the interdicted foreigners.
Lee Ballester added that he has personally made sure that the nationals of other countries have guaranteed food and are in good health and reiterated that he will act in accordance with the norm, so those who have an open process will be verified and subsequently released.
Immigration control agents who are on the streets interdicting foreigners, check their documents, if they are in order they let them move freely, but if there is any doubt they are detained for further verification. The operations will continue throughout the country and will not stop.
