Cita de departamento de comunicaciones en marzo 5, 2024, 2:47 pmThe General Director of Immigration, Venancio Alcántara, ordered an investigation into an alleged operation in which a citizen of Haitian nationality was affected.
The investigations seek to establish the reality of the events that occurred in the town of Cañada Seca, municipality of Constanza, province of La Vega.
Alcántara explained that if the investigations determine that if they acted outside the law, there were excesses or if they were members of the Immigration Directorate, appropriate corrective measures will be taken to prevent this type of actions from being repeated, which are not typical of immigration agents.
He pointed out that every day, the members who make up the General Directorate of Immigration are instructed to act in accordance with the Constitution and in accordance with what Law 285-04 establishes, and above all with respect to human rights.
He recalled that the interdiction operations with irregular foreigners that are carried out throughout the national territory are carried out in accordance with Dominican laws, respecting due process, the physical integrity of any citizen and private property.
The DGM calls on citizens to identify Immigration agents so that they can oversee the work they do in favor of the Dominican Republic.
