Independence._ The Public Prosecutor's Office and the General Directorate of Migration granted three months of preventive detention to a Haitian citizen who was engaged in trafficking his compatriots in the Dominican Republic.
Franck Lindor was caught red-handed by immigration agents in La Descubierta with several of his fellow Haitians, including minors, in a van when he tried to transport him.
The foreigner was imposed coercive measures for violating Law 285 – 04 on Immigration and Law 137 – 02 on human trafficking and must serve his prison term in Jimaní prison.
The General Directorate of Immigration will continue to bring to justice all Dominicans and foreigners who engage in the crime of trafficking foreigners in an irregular condition.
In addition, it will continue to interdict illegal foreigners to achieve the goal of 10,000 per week.
