Immigration operation advances to meet the goal of deporting 10 thousand illegal foreigners per week.

Santo Domingo.- The operations of the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) to deport 10 thousand foreigners per week continued this weekend throughout the country, as agreed this Wednesday in the National Defense and Security Council headed by President Luis Abinader, they are working hard to achieve the goal.
The Director General of Migration, Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester (ARD), reiterated that everything is done with respect for human rights, with prudence and with proportional use of force as proposed by President Luis Abinader in the National Defense and Security Council.
Lee Ballester clarified that some of those interdicted who carried documents were detained because they did not present reliable identification that supported their presence in the Dominican Republic.
Regarding the interdicted minors, we act in accordance with Law 136 - 03, for children and adolescents, we work in coordination with the National Council of Children and Adolescents (CONANI) who take them to special protection spaces for them and thus guarantee their fundamental rights and protect their physical integrity.
The vice admiral explained that at the end of this Sunday, the fourth day of the massive interdiction campaign carried out by the General Directorate of Migration, which began this Thursday and fulfilling the goal established in the meeting of the National Defense and Security Council, the campaign has seen 5,144 foreigners deported, from Thursday until this Sunday. 2,073 were repatriated and 1,909 were redirected for a total of 7,217.
They are all undergoing a verification process to determine their immigration status in the country. If they are in an irregular condition, they will be deported to their country of origin.
The detention of illegal foreigners is carried out in collaboration with the Armed Forces, the National Army, the Dominican Air Force, the Ciudad Tranquila Task Force (CIUTRAN), the National Police and the Public Prosecutor's Office.
The director of Migration stated that these actions are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the general Migration Law 285 – 04, the implementing decree 631 – 11, with respect for human rights, with prudence and with the proportional use of force.
