Santo Domingo. _ In the first half of 2024, the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) deported 67,844 foreigners to their countries of origin for not complying with the provisions of Law 285 – 04, for being required by different nations and for other reasons.
Of that number, 66,227 are Haitians, 22 Americans, 5 Colombians, 5 Cubans, 4 Chinese, 3 Mexicans, 3 Puerto Ricans, 2 Venezuelans, 1 Cameroonian, 1 Dutch, 1 Jamaican and 1 Italian.
In the last month, June, 13,231 were deported. So far in July, more than 1,450 irregulars have been sent back to their countries of origin.
The Director General of Migration, Venancio Alcántara, will continue the deportations and repatriations of foreigners in irregular status in violation of Law 285 – 04 and the implementing decree 631 – 11 with respect to human rights.
