Santo Domingo.- The Director General of Migration, Vice Admiral Luis R. Ballester (ARD) stated that all members of the institution must act with transparency and with dignified treatment because they are dealing with human beings, but with the authority and energy to act with the will of God, Almighty and in defense of Dominican identity.
Offering a thanksgiving mass for his appointment to the Directorate General of Migration (DGM), Lee Ballester said he will act as the Christian he is, with respect for the constitution, laws and international agreements.
He asked Jehovah for wisdom because he has a very delicate mission in his hands due to the fact that he has to manage the Dominican Republic's immigration policy, protect national sovereignty, principles, traditions and customs.
The Eucharistic act was officiated by the Bishop of San Pedro de Macorís, Santiago Rodríguez, who congratulated Vice Admiral Lee Ballester for entrusting his actions to the Lord because “migration is not only Haitians but everyone,” it is a complex and delicate issue, so everyone must be committed to this cause.
Also participating in the mass were Monsignor Emeritus José Dolores Grullón Estrella, the parish priest Milciades Florentino, senior chaplain of the Dominican Navy, and the priests José Ramón Arias, Elías Acosta Garib and deacon Billy Joel Valdez. The general directors, managers and employees of the DGM were present.
