Cita de departamento de comunicaciones en octubre 31, 2024, 9:28 amThey deal with issues of migration competences and human rights.
Santo Domingo._ The Director General of Migration, Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester (ARD), received in his office the president of the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), Víctor D' Aza, where they discussed issues related to the importance of collaboration between both institutions in different areas.
Among the topics discussed, Lee Ballester highlighted that migration management is a responsibility of the DGM and that for such purposes Law 285-04 authorizes the use of personnel from the Armed Forces and the National Police when our institution does not have sufficient personnel to fulfill its obligations.
He also met with the mayor of Villa Isabela, Puerto Plata province, Ruddy Leandro Gómez, and of Santiago de la Cruz, Dajabón province, Luis José Estévez, whom he thanked for their logistical support and information that can help the DGM fulfill our mission.
This dialogue reinforces our commitment to effective and transparent migration management, within the framework of the defense of our sovereignty, territorial integrity and respect for national laws.I coordinate actions with the councillors for the interdictions and explain to them that the General Directorate of Migration is empowered to apply the migration policy in the country. A delegation from the General Directorate of Migration even travelled to the provinces to verify the situation in the area regarding irregular migration.
