Santo Domingo. _ The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) has brought seven people to justice for trying to bring foreigners with irregular immigration status into the Dominican Republic at different points in the country.
The Legal Department of the DGM together with the Public Prosecutor's Office has managed to have coercive measures imposed on three people in Baní, Peravia province, three in Azua and one in Pedernales.
All accused of violating immigration law 285-04, for transporting people with irregular immigration status, law 137-03, on illicit trafficking of migrants and human trafficking, and the Dominican Penal Code.
During the administration of Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester (ARD) at the head of Migration, 31 cases have been brought to court, not only for human trafficking but also for rape. Other cases have been brought to court for false documents, forgery and usurpation of functions.
In a press release, the General Directorate of Migration reiterates that it will bring to justice all those who violate the immigration regulations in force in the Dominican Republic.
