Migration will deport 71 illegal Haitians and will submit to justice 8 arrested disturbing order on public roads and refusing routine checks in Cap Cana

Santo Domingo, R.D.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM), reported today that it is holding under arrest a group of undocumented Haitians who attacked National Police agents when they resisted the routine check of the institution and fled and were later arrested. by members of the National Police in Cap Cana.

The Interdiction team of the General Directorate of Migration, intercepted a bus that was moving through the Punta Cana roundabout and when it stopped, they fled, which was immediately reported by radio communication to a Police patrol Nacional which intercepted the suspicious vehicle at the entrance of Cap Cana.

When the bus with dozens of illegal Haitian nationals on board was stopped, they threw stones at the migration members along with police officers who were part of the operation in the Punta Cana area.

The immigration agents carried out a routine operation in the aforementioned demarcation, when the occupants of the vehicle resisted stopping the march with the foreigners on board.

The institution reported that eight Haitian nationals will be brought to justice, with charges for disorderly conduct on public roads and violations of the immigration law in Dominican territory.

The General Directorate of Migration reported that the incident occurred on the La Rotonda track, at the entrance to Cap Cana, in the province of La Altagracia.

After the incident, 78 Haitians were detained by the acting authorities and 71 of them are being deported and 7 are being subjugated, for illegally transiting in Dominican territory and others.

The governing institution of migration in the country, affirmed that it has a video as evidence of what happened, also warned that it will not accept changes to the legal system regarding legal migration in the country.
