Santo Domingo. _ The Director General of Migration, Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester (ARD), received this Tuesday in his office the Ombudsman, Pablo Ulloa, to whom he explained the plan for mass deportations of irregular foreigners that emanated from the Defense and Security Council of the Dominican Republic.
At the meeting, Lee Ballester reiterated that the processes of interdiction, repatriation and deportation are carried out with respect for the dignity and integrity of foreigners in irregular conditions in Dominican territory.
For his part, the Ombudsman, Pablo Ulloa, after leaving the meeting, assured that the Dominican Republic makes use of its legal powers to guarantee the security of its territory and its sovereignty in compliance with respect for human rights.
They discussed the plan for mass repatriations of illegal foreigners in the country and agreed that the measures will continue to be applied as they have been until now, complying with due process and respecting the dignity and fundamental rights of those affected.
Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester, head of the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) and Dr. Pablo Ulloa met in the former's office and reviewed the deportation programs that are being implemented by instructions of President Luis Abinader and by order of the Defense and Security Council of the Dominican Republic.
During the meeting, the high-ranking official explained that the processes of interdiction, repatriation and deportation of immigrants in an irregular situation are applied fairly, without abuse or arbitrariness and ensuring the physical and moral integrity of the people, as established by legal provisions. “We apply the law with justice and prudence,” he added.
Ulloa, for his part, said that the country acts in accordance with the values of a democratic nation and that it makes use of its legal powers to guarantee the security of its territory and sovereignty, in compliance with respect for human rights.
He also reiterated that he has not received any complaints regarding irregular proceedings or violations of fundamental rights, particularly in cases involving children and adolescents.
