Residence raided after complaint that it operated as a center for document forgery

Public Prosecutor's Office authorities raided a residence in Santo Domingo Este on Monday as part of an investigation into a complaint that a clandestine center for document forgery was operating there, which was allegedly offered to illegal foreign nationals.
According to the investigations carried out by the Public Prosecutor's Office in conjunction with the Civil Security Directorate and the Legal Consultancy of the Central Electoral Board, and the Criminal Investigations Directorate of the Police (DICRIM), 'Dr. Frías' used his previous employment status to recruit illegal foreigners and offer them false documentation as Dominican nationals.
During the intervention, a person identified only as “Doctor Frías” was arrested. He is a former employee of the Immigration Department who is accused of being responsible for operating the center. In addition, certificates, passports, foreigner ID cards, and other public documents were seized.
After receiving the complaint, investigations were carried out that led to the raided residence, located in the Villa Carmen sector, and joint action was taken with the aforementioned investigative agencies.
The illegal operations under investigation violate articles 145, 146, 147 and 148 of the Dominican Penal Code and the ID law, which criminalize the falsification of documents.
The Central Electoral Board continues to monitor complaints that arise related to violations of the Dominican civil registry, of which it is the guarantor.
The General Directorate of Migration reiterates that it will not allow incorrect actions by its collaborators and if any irregularity is determined, they will be sanctioned and canceled in accordance with what is stipulated by Dominican laws.
