The DGM arrests another 625 Haitians in nationwide interdiction operations.

The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) detained 625 Haitian nationals in irregular immigration status during operations deployed yesterday throughout the country to control the flow of undocumented foreigners.

The immigration agents' operations resulted in the arrest of 505 men, 109 women, and 11 minors accompanying them. They were transferred to the Haina detention center for verification, biometric data collection, and subsequent deportation to their countries of origin, in accordance with due process.

The locations where the arrests were made were Greater Santo Domingo and the National District (60 men and 12 women); Azua, Ocoa and Baní (80 men and one woman), Puerto Plata (San Felipe, Montellano and Cangrejos) (31 men and 16 women), Elías Piña (Los Coroncitos, La Pastilla and Comendador) (44 men and 12 women), Bonao (51 men and 6 women), Dajabón (183 men, 53 women and 11 minors accompanying them) and Pedernales (46 men and 9 women).

Interdiction efforts are carried out with the active collaboration of the Dominican Army, the Dominican Navy, the Air Force, the Cesfront (Center for the Defense of the Dominican Republic), the National Police, the Ciutran (National Police), and the Digesett (Digest), among other agencies involved in national security.

The institution responsible for controlling migration flows and managing the presence of foreigners in Dominican territory stated that the operations are carried out in strict compliance with Law 285-04 and with respect for human rights and human dignity.

The DGM also warned that it will continue to comply with the directives of President Luis Abinader and the mandate of the nation's Defense and Security Council to safeguard national security and sovereignty.
