The DGM repatriates 322 undocumented Haitians detained in operations in the border region.

DAJABÓN.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) repatriated 322 Haitian nationals detained in irregular immigration status during operations carried out yesterday at various points along the Dominican border.

At this border crossing, which has become the route through which the DGM routes the largest number of illegal immigrants to be handed over to Haitian authorities, immigration interdiction agents detained 211 undocumented immigrants, of whom 130 were men, 55 were women, and 26 were minors accompanying them.

Through the Jimaní binational gateway, 111 people with irregular immigration status were deported (68 men, 38 women, and 5 minors accompanied by their parents). Of that total, 81 were detained in Jimaní, 22 in Neiba, and 8 in Duvergé.

The DGM interdiction agents coordinated their work with members of the Dominican Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as the Specialized Border Security Corps and the Public Prosecutor's Office.

Foreigners caught illegally were treated with full respect for their rights and dignity, within the framework of the protocols established by Dominican law and agreements with international organizations governing the matter.

The institution responsible for controlling migration flows and managing the presence of foreigners in Dominican territory warned that it will continue to comply with Law 285-04, its implementing decree, the mandate of the Defense Council, and the directives of President Luis Abinader. It also emphasized the importance of safeguarding national security and sovereignty, ensuring that all citizens, regardless of their origin, are properly documented and registered.
