The DGM's operations against illegal immigrants continue. It has arrested 1,636 and deported another 1,180 foreigners.

SANTO DOMINGO.- The General Directorate of Immigration (DGM), maintaining the firmness of its interdiction operations throughout the country, yesterday detained 1,636 undocumented foreigners and ordered the deportation of another 1,180 to their countries of origin.

The protests, implemented within the framework of respect for the security, rights and dignity of people, took place in Greater Santo Domingo, where 124 Haitian nationals with irregular immigration status were detained. In Santiago de los Caballeros (including Gurabo), 93 were detained; La Vega, 11; Mao/Santiago Rodríguez, 28; Azua, 26; Zona Este, 28; Barahona, 8; Puerto Plata, 15; Dajabón, 282; Elías Piña, 182; Jimaní, 90; Pedernales, 73; and Montecristi, 71.

Added to this total are 445 reported illegal immigrants detained by the National Army; 115 by the Cesfront; and 45 by the National Police, in coordinated actions with the DGM (General Directorate of General Investigation), as well as those of the Navy, the Air Force, the Ciutran (National Criminal Investigation Unit), the Digesett (Digest), and the Public Prosecutor's Office, among other state security agencies.

The number of deported foreign personnel totaled 1,180 Haitian nationals. The interdicted individuals were taken from the various detention centers managed by the DGM, where their fingerprints and biometric data were taken. They were then taken to the binational border crossings of Dajabón, Elías Piña, Jimaní, and Pedernales, where they were handed over to their country's immigration authorities.

The DGM reiterated that it will continue operations to locate, detain, and repatriate illegal immigrants, in compliance with Immigration Law 285-04 and always ensuring that the processes are carried out in strict adherence to the principles of justice, equity, and respect for the rights of all.
