The General Directorate of Migration seizes a minibus with 18 illegal Haitians in the capital

Santo Domingo, RD.- As part of the actions carried out by the General Directorate of
Migration (DGM), its agents intercepted a minibus with 18 illegal Haitian nationals
in an avenue of the National District.

The institution specified, through a press release, that the vehicle was stopped in the
Pedro Enríquez Ureña Avenue, almost on the corner of Máximo Gómez, in the National District, where
foreigners in irregular migratory conditions were arrested.

He specified that the white Nissan Minibus, license plate I020485, file 07, was transporting 18 nationals
Illegal Haitians, between men and women, who, when seized, did not carry documents
of identity that supports your stay in the Dominican Republic; the Nissan Minibus is
owned by the transport company ASOPROCAME, and transports on the Duquesa-Casabe-Jacagua-Parque route, of the Ovando corridor.

Similarly, the General Directorate of Migration assured that the detainees were
taken to the Haina Detention Center, San Cristóbal, where the
process and protocol for their repatriation.

As for the driver of the minibus, Masnot Salvary, also a Haitian national, he is
arrested, accused of trafficking in persons, for which reason he will be brought to justice at
in order to be punished as established by law.

Pursuant to the provisions of the general immigration law, Director General Venancio
Alcántara, drastic measures will be taken against drivers who transport illegals,
as is the case of the Minibus, the Duquesa-Casabe-Jacagua-Parque route, the corridor
Ovando, so that corrective measures continue to be taken and that similar events are not
repeat.

The official also warned, through the press release, that with these actions that are
carried out throughout the national territory faithfully comply with the instructions of the
President Luis Abinader, in immigration matters, after reiterating that under no circumstances
circumstance will allow the irregular migratory flow in the Dominican Republic.
