Cita de departamento de comunicaciones en marzo 14, 2025, 3:25 pmEL SEIBO.- The General Directorate of Immigration (DGM) is considering installing extensions in San Pedro de Macorís, Hato Mayor, Higüey, and this province to strengthen and increase interdiction operations in those areas.
Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester, ARD, head of the DGM, visited the region and met with civilian and military authorities from each of these provinces. He explained the expansion plan he will implement nationwide and discussed the immigration situation with them, seeking to implement solutions.
The senior military official said the new facilities will be equipped with biometric identification technology, qualified human resources, and mobility equipment to enable interdictions based on Law 285-04, in line with the national security and immigration order strategies promoted by President Luis Abinader.
Lee Ballester highlighted the importance of this measure and explained that the immigration phenomenon involves citizens of multiple nationalities, so the objective of implementing it is to reduce the presence of undocumented foreigners in the country, always acting in compliance with the law and respecting human rights.
These meetings were attended by Governor Yovanny Baltazar and Mayor Raymundo Ortiz in San Pedro de Macorís; Governor Maribel Simón and Mayor Solano Hernández, Mayor of Sabana de la Mar, in Hato Mayor; Governor Martina Pepén Santana and Representative Francisco Villegas in Higüey; and Governor Magaly Tabar and Mayor Leo Francis Zorrilla in El Seybo.
Representing the DGM, along with Director Lee Ballester, were Brigadier General Juan Vicente Carlos Vicente Pérez, FARD, Director of Immigration Intelligence; Colonel Manuel Carrasco Guerrero, National Interdiction Coordinator; Colonel César E. Severino Santana, FARD, Immigration Coordinator for the Eastern Region; and Colonel (r) Franklyn Garris Peralta, ERD, Military Coordinator. Also participating in the meetings were senior officers from the various military branches and the National Police, stationed in each of the provinces.
