DGM brings 17 people to justice for violating immigration regulations
Cita de departamento de comunicaciones en marzo 4, 2025, 1:07 pmSANTO DOMINGO.- In recent weeks, the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) brought to justice 17 people accused of violating the General Migration Law and criminal norms related to illegal trafficking of migrants, falsification of documents, identity theft and use of fraudulent documentation.
The agency responsible for the entry, stay and exit of persons in the national territory also specified that another 25 individuals were charged for their involvement in these crimes.
The judicialized cases, indicates the DGM, were presented in courts of Greater Santo Domingo (4), in the northern region (6) and the others (7) in the southern region, in order to apply the coercive measures that the judges consider.
The discovery of the aforementioned violations and the arrest of those responsible is the result of the institutional strengthening of the DGM and is part of the efforts to ensure compliance with immigration regulations.
Will act vigorously
The DGM also asked for the cooperation of transporters and warned that it will bring to justice any companies, individuals or authorities that are caught transporting undocumented or illegal foreigners.
The institution clarified that it recognizes and is committed to the right to free movement, within the limitations established in the Constitution and current laws, but said that it will act vigorously to investigate and sanction any violation of the established legal framework.
He urged all parties involved to comply with the provisions and to collaborate with the competent authorities to prevent any irregular activity that could put immigration order and national security at risk.
