Lee Ballester oversees Friusa's operations base; arrests and deportations of illegal immigrants continue.

FRIUSA, La Altagracia.- The Director General of Immigration, Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester, ARD, oversaw the base of operations established by the Ministry of Defense to support interdiction operations in this area. He also verified compliance with procedures for handling undocumented foreigners and urged agents to maintain compliance with their duties and perform their functions properly.

The official and senior military officer also visited the Hoyo de Friusa and Matamosquitos sectors while immigration agents conducted operations that resulted in 147 Haitian nationals being detained for lacking the proper legal documentation. This brings the number of foreigners with irregular immigration status detained here in the last 13 days to 2,474.

Lee Ballester emphasized the commitment and responsibility of immigration teams to comply with the legal regulations governing the DGM, as well as the provisions of President Luis Abinader, who in a national address on the 6th announced 15 measures to combat illegal migration and guarantee peace, security, and national sovereignty.

DETAINED AND DEPORTED

Yesterday, the DGM continued its offensive with interdiction operations, resulting in 876 Haitian nationals arrested. That day's results were 225 in Greater Santo Domingo, 147 in the eastern zone, 30 in La Vega, 25 in Barahona, 23 in Santiago, 11 in Montecristi, and 9 in Puerto Plata. In addition to these, 291 were apprehended by the Dominican Army, 108 by the Cesfront, and 7 by the National Police.

Yesterday, Monday, 341 undocumented Haitians were also deported, of whom 169 were deported through the Dajabón border crossing, 130 through Elías Piña, and 42 through Pedernales. They surrendered to their home authorities after being processed and cleared at the DGM detention centers.

All interdiction operations were carried out with respect for human rights and the dignity of immigrants, and in compliance with national legal regulations and those of international organizations to which the country is committed.
