PRESIDENT OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMITTEE OFFERS A TALK TO INSPECTORS AND MIGRATION AGENTS.

DGM constantly reminds its agents that compliance with Law 285 – 04 is done with respect for human rights.

The president of the Dominican Human Rights Commission, Manuel María Mercedes, gave a talk to the inspectors and agents of the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) who carry out interdictions at the national level in the program that the training institution has and continues.

The commissioner highlighted the importance of the work of Migration collaborators in favor of the Dominican Republic and compliance with law 285 – 04 and the international conventions to which the country is a signatory.

He specified that despite some complaints of mistreatment of interdicted foreigners, this is NOT the behavior of the majority, but rather due to particular cases, which are corrected immediately and reported.

He highlighted the ties of cooperation with the institution and the interest of its director Venancio Alcántara that the inspectors and agents carrying out interdiction do their work in accordance with respect for human rights and guaranteeing the rights of each citizen regardless of nationality.

The General Directorate of Immigration reminded the staff of the good behavior they must exhibit before citizens and the legal basis that protects the institution, law 285 – 04.

He thanked the president of the Human Rights Commission for always collaborating with the DGM on immigration issues.
