Order to expand investigation into the incident
VERÓN, La Altagracia.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported that a Haitian national in irregular status died at the general hospital here after jumping from a third-floor window and falling to the pavement, fleeing to avoid being intercepted by authorities.
The foreigner, whose identity is unknown due to his lack of identification, attempted to escape by jumping from one building to another when he noticed the interdiction squads approaching, but was unsuccessful. The incident occurred this morning in the Villa la Fe sector of this municipality, and the DGM has ordered an expanded investigation into this unfortunate incident.
Authorities immediately called 911, who responded to the emergency services to provide first aid and transport the victim to the hospital. The body is in the medical facility's morgue.
The DGM regretted the incident and urged illegal aliens in the country not to resist or fear the interdiction brigades, as they operate under strict protocols respecting human rights.
