Santo Domingo.– The General Directorate of Migration commemorates the 211th anniversary of the birth of Juan Pablo Duarte, founder of the Dominican Republic and undisputed leader of the independence feat.
Juan Pablo Duarte, coming from a family committed to the independence cause, was the main ideologist of “La Trinitaria”, a secret society that fought for the liberation of the country from Haitian rule. His vision and leadership were fundamental to organize the separatist movement and proclaim independence on February 27, 1844.
