SANTO DOMINGO. – The Director General of Migration and the President of the Central Electoral Board met to coordinate measures to support and optimize immigration control procedures, in order to facilitate the exit of Dominican passengers through the country’s air terminals.

Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester, head of the DGM, and Judge Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo agreed to set up a technical table to facilitate automatic consultation of the JCE database, to ensure that passengers only have to show their passports to immigration inspectors during the process of leaving the country.

In accordance with the provisions of the DGM and JCE holders, the working teams established protocols through which the passport will be a sufficient credential for the automatic validation of the identity of travelers.

The DGM expressed its interest in including in the Zero Bureaucracy program the procedures that users carry out in that institution who qualify for such purposes. Among other initiatives proposed by the DGM at the meeting is also the establishment of mechanisms to validate birth certificates for the purpose of granting exit permits to minors. This measure will speed up the processing of these requests and will favor the management of those interested.

Lee Ballester also recommended the use of the autogate for people over 18 years of age, since when they are registered on that platform they are biometrically validated. It was clarified, however, that while the presentation of the ID card has been requested, no person has been prevented from traveling since when the ID card has not been shown, the identity validation has been done through an additional procedure by manually accessing the JCE system, which is what will be eliminated with the new measures to be implemented.

The meeting was held in the office of the head of the JCE and was also attended by Rear Admiral Juan Gilberto Núñez Abreu, ARD, and Natanael Minaya, directors of immigration control and technology of the DGM, respectively, as well as Eng. Danny Reyes, deputy director of the JCE’s technical technology office.
