The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) together with members of the Dominican Republic Navy, Dominican Republic Air Force and National Police (Los Topos, SWAT, and Anti-Riots), carried out a new operation yesterday morning migratory interdiction in Ciudad Juan Bosch, Santo Domingo East, with the objective of identifying undocumented foreigners and proceeding to the application of migratory laws. This operation is part of the forceful response to the attacks directed at immigration agents and inspectors carried out by Haitian citizens with irregular immigration status in that residential area, which resulted in the arrest of 174 illegal aliens who were transferred to the Reception Center Vacacional de Haina to be processed and subsequently redirected to their country of origin. The DGM reiterates that it will not tolerate under any circumstances that illegal aliens, regardless of their nationality, violently confront members of the institution that represents the state authority in immigration matters and are obliged to enforce law 285-04 . The General Directorate of Migration will play its role in protecting national sovereignty with the authority granted by current national laws, always within a framework of respect for human rights and due process.
