SANTO DOMINGO.- The General Directorate of Immigration (DGM) announced that cash payments for immigration services and procedures offered to national and foreign users will be eliminated starting June 1, 2025.
The institution announced that, going forward, all transactions must be made exclusively by credit or debit card, bank deposits, or through the institutional website. This measure is part of the DGM’s commitment to transparency in the management of public resources, in support of the guidelines of the Dominican Government and the General Directorate of Ethics and Government Integrity.
The DGM recalled that, within the framework of General Immigration Law No. 285-04 and its Implementing Regulations, it maintains an official fee schedule for the services it offers, as well as for the issuance of documents and the application of administrative sanctions to individuals or legal entities that violate current legal provisions.
The institution also assured that this provision will not affect user service processes, but will contribute to strengthening institutional efficiency and ensuring faster, safer, and more expeditious service delivery.
The Director General of Migration, Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester, ARD, emphasized that this decision responds to the strict control over the management of public funds that governs his administration, aligned with President Luis Abinader’s policy of ensuring maximum transparency in public administration.
Finally, the official reiterated his commitment, both institutional and personal, to strengthening integrity, ethics, and transparency as essential tools for combating corruption and consolidating public trust in state institutions.
