LA ALTAGRACIA. The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) investigates the complaint about an alleged rape of a Haitian minor in Bávaro, La Altagracia province.
The institution interrogates all the immigration inspectors who participated in the interdiction operation last Friday, April 5, when the reported action was recorded.
The investigations are carried out jointly with the Public Ministry of the province of La Altagracia, which is aware of the facts and the General Directorate of Immigration cooperates with the authorities to clarify the case.
Venancio Alcántara, director of Immigration, described this type of outrage as reprehensible and guarantees citizens that if one of the inspectors is involved in such an embarrassing violation, it will be canceled and placed at the disposal of justice to determine their innocence or guilt.
He added that he will not be contemplated because he does not tolerate this type of actions because immigration inspectors are instructed daily to treat interdicted foreigners with respect, no matter their nationality, because their mission is to comply with law 285 – 04.
Immigration inspectors walk on the streets properly identified and DO NOT wear balaclavas to avoid confusion and for citizens to recognize when it comes to Immigration operations.
The DGM will not allow its collaborators to commit actions contrary to the law.
