Director of Migration Venancio Alcántara highlights the progress of Dominican women on the occasion of International Women’s Day

Santo Domingo, RD.- After congratulating the women on the occasion to commemorate today the Day
Women’s International, the General Director of Migration, Venancio Alcántara, highlighted the
preponderant role that Dominican women have played and their notable advances in different
spheres of national life.

In this sense, he recognized in a special way the work carried out by women in the
institution, which highlighted how arduous those tasks that they carry out day by day in the public function,
contributing to improve the institutionality, to achieve greater transparency and to make the
public services.

She highlighted the work carried out by women as inspectors, Migration Agents,
Deputy Directors, Directors, Coordinators, Managers, lawyers and soldiers, as well as
communicators, assistants and custodians, for their dedication, delivery and commitment, with the
which fundamentally contribute to improving the quality of life, the development of
institution and society in general.

Similarly, the official advocated for the defense of women’s rights, more
liberties and greater social spaces for themselves as well as in decision-making.

For the Director General of Migration, Venancio Alcántara, without a doubt, the role that
Dominican women perform in different spaces of society, constitutes a pillar
essential for the social and economic development of the country, which also contributes to the
strengthening of democracy.

In the same way, Alcántara favored greater equity and equal rights among men.
and women in the Dominican Republic, while assessing as positive the policies
policies promoted by the government to counteract violence against women.

He also urged society in general to put down the macho culture and work
for a culture of peace, the preservation of the family, good customs, values
civics.
