If the investigations determine that there are guilty Immigration agents, they will be sanctioned.
Santo Domingo. _ Following the unfortunate incidents involving two foreigners during the interdiction operations of the General Directorate of Migration (DGM), the institution will once again review the actions of the agents and support staff who participate in them.
Regarding the events that occurred in Villa Francisca in the National District during a day at the request of the City Council of the National District and in conjunction with the National Police, preliminary investigations indicate that the foreigner jumped in an attempt to flee from those carrying out the operation.
The injured foreigner, who was assisted by the National Emergency System – 911 – is recovering in a health center and is making satisfactory progress.
The Director General of Migration, Venancio Alcántara, reiterates that he rejects these bad actions, which is why he frequently reminds agents to enforce Law 285 – 04, respecting the rights of foreigners in an irregular situation in the Dominican Republic.
He urges citizens to fulfill their civic duty by identifying DGM collaborators who extort foreigners and to support the complaints they make in order to act accordingly against those who deviate from the work guidelines.
