Santo Domingo. _ In recent weeks, old videos have been circulating on social media of agents and inspectors from the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) in actions that are not typical of the institution and contrary to the directives of its General Director Venancio Alcántara, which occurred more than 6 months ago. Now they are presenting it as if these were recent situations.
The DGM is concerned that the release of these recordings has surprised many people, including respected media outlets and investigative programmes that have reported on the information as if it were something that had happened in the past.
Migration warns citizens not to be surprised and to verify before forwarding and distributing a video whether it is from the present or the past.
In recent past films that have been re-released, one of them shows foreigners moving from one truck to another in Higüey, an event that happened more than six months ago. Another of an agent walking with a foreigner more than 8 months ago and the photo of a voucher with the payment to a person who does not work at the DGM that happened 5 months ago. All these bad acts were responded to and those who committed these faults were removed from the institution.
Immigration will always respond to responsible complaints where there are obvious facts and evidence, will not allow bad actions and warns citizens not to be surprised.
