Bávaro, Dominican Republic. The Dominican government continued this Saturday with a broad immigration control and security operation in the Friusa sector, in the tourist district of Bávaro, as part of the national strategy for territorial planning and compliance with the General Immigration Law.

The event included a permanent military and police deployment in the area, carrying out targeted actions and strengthening surveillance levels.

During the intervention, more than 300 people in an illegal situation were detained and transferred for verification and repatriation in accordance with due process.

The operation was led by Vice Admiral Lee Ballester, with the participation of the General Directorate of Immigration, the Dominican Army, the National Police, and CIUTRAN, in coordination with intelligence agencies.

The action is part of a continuation of the operations initiated this week in Friusa and nearby areas such as Mata Mosquito, Villa Playwood, and Haiti Chiquito, areas noted for their high concentration of irregular immigrants.

With these interventions, the Government seeks to strengthen control of vulnerable urban spaces, where conditions have arisen that affect coexistence, security, and access to employment opportunities for Dominican citizens.

During the operation, access to the area was reinforced, constant patrols were carried out, and checkpoints were set up to ensure the operation’s effectiveness. This measure prevented escapes and ensured full coverage of the area during the established intervention period.

The authorities reiterated that these actions are carried out with strict respect for human rights and in accordance with the current legal framework. At the same time, they highlighted the support of local communities, who have positively valued the intervention as a concrete response to the concerns expressed at the recent “Patriotic March” held in the same area.

The Dominican government reaffirmed its commitment to continue carrying out operations like this one, with the goal of guaranteeing citizen security, strengthening public order, and ensuring strict compliance with the General Immigration Law throughout the country.
