Bávaro, La Altagracia – As part of efforts to ensure migration order and legal security in vulnerable areas, the General Directorate of Migration (DGM), in coordination with state institutions, carried out an operation in the community of Mata Mosquito, Friusa, Bávaro.
The intervention focused on identifying and removing illegal occupants from private land, with special attention to people in irregular immigration status.
During the operation, it was determined that most of the occupants lacked legal documentation to reside in the country, and that all of them were Haitian citizens. The DGM detained more than 500 undocumented individuals, who were transferred to the Haina detention center for verification and repatriation, in accordance with General Migration Law 285-04.
Participation of Security Forces:
The operation had the logistical support of the National Police Special Unit (created under Decree 668-22), the Dominican Army, and specialized tactical units. These units collaborated in the dismantling of improvised zinc and wood structures that violated safety regulations and were subject to illegal occupation.
Subsequent Measures:
To prevent further occupations, a permanent surveillance system has been established in the area, staffed by military and police personnel. This strategy seeks to protect areas susceptible to invasions, while ensuring compliance with international human rights protocols during migration processes.
