Visit migration facilities at the airports of Cibao in Santiago and Higüero in Santo

Santo Domingo, DR. – The General Director of Immigration, Venancio Alcántara, moved again
this weekend to the border, where he made an inspection tour of the interdiction operations
and migratory control carried out by agents of the institution in the Dajabón binational strip.
Alcántara, reported that the actions are carried out with the purpose of counteracting the entry of
undocumented foreigners to the national territory by that route, where he inspected several points
border crossings and different strategic places in Dajabón, accompanied by local authorities and
governmental, to contact that the migratory actions are being carried out as it has been
instructed the interdiction agents.
Likewise, he said that the interventions are carried out in compliance with good procedure, guarantees to
the integrity of interdicted illegal aliens, as well as those who carry up-to-date documents, are
released immediately during searches.
The official specified “We have once again personally traveled to the border area to
supervise the operations carried out by our agents and we have reiterated the instructions of
act in accordance with the rules and laws, since just as we recognize the good deeds of our

During his supervisory tour of the border, the Director of Immigration was accompanied by a
large commission made up of the provincial governor Rosalba Milagros Peña, the deputy for
Dajabón Darío Zapata, the Mayor Santiago Riverón, the provincial head of Migration, Evelio
Alcántara, as well as the Advisor for Border Affairs of the Presidency engineer Mario Torres and the
Border Regional Director Pedro José Rodríguez Suero.
In addition, he visited the migration facilities at the airports of Cibao in Santiago and Higüero in
Santo Domingo Norte, where he met with all the staff under his direction.
He assured that the actions in execution have the purpose of enforcing the law, without incurring
abuse towards the person, and also announced that it will continue to inspect the operations so that
instructions, standards and established protocols are complied with.
The General Director of Immigration recalled that the more than 10,000 illegal aliens detained and
repatriated in recent days, mostly Haitians, is a sign that it is fulfilled and done
comply with the immigration laws in the Dominican Republic, as it has been entrusted by the
President Luis Abinader, without incurring in excesses or violating the rights of people.
