Migration inaugurates Command Control and Monitoring Centers as well as investigation offices to make services and actions carried out more efficient

The institution assured that it promotes a modernization process that serves as a reference
on the matter for the region.

Santo Domingo, DR. – As part of a transformation and modernization plan, the
General Directorate of Migration (DGM), reported that the institution promotes a series
of projects and initiatives, to improve services to citizens and make more efficient
the actions carried out throughout the national territory, which will serve as
reference in the matter, for the region.

As part of the modernization process, the institution inaugurated a Center
of Command and Control of the immigration control directorate, and the offices of
investigation of the Migration Intelligence Directorate, which will be in charge of
maintain permanent and real-time surveillance of interdiction units
migration throughout the national territory, through a modern GPS system, and
drones operated by technicians, which will have the ability to track, closely monitor
the movements and activities of these vehicles, so that they operate within the limit
of the law.

In addition, a Technology Management Monitoring Center was enabled, with the
purpose of continuing to make services more efficient to the population.
The general director of Migration, Venancio Alcántara, assured that these projects
strengthen the goals and purposes that have been achieved, which has been possible thanks
to the vision of the current management that, from its beginnings, has proposed to convert the
institution in a model entity of the Dominican State.

He also specified that this achievement is due to the integrity and dedication of the
public servants, departmental directors and collaborators, who have
redoubled efforts to maintain the indicators that govern the institution, in the
highest level of public administration.

Likewise, he said that, through efficiency and work, they always seek to maintain
first place in the public sector and continue strengthening the trust placed by
the Presidency of the Republic, for choosing Migration as one of the 21
public institutions selected to promote the “Zero Bureaucracy” program that
implemented by the Dominican government.

In compliance with the provisions established in Law 285-04, the Directorate
General of Immigration, also reported that deportations have doubled
of foreigners with irregular immigration status, through an arduous and rigorous process
promoted by interdiction teams throughout the national territory, with the
precise support from the Intelligence Directorate, always complying with the
protocol for respect for human rights, international standards and agreements
of which the country is dignitary.

As evidence of the progress experienced by the General Directorate of Migration,
gave as an example that the institution achieved a score of 98.81, the highest
level of performance among 345 public institutions evaluated, through the
indicators from different areas.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of the Interior and Police, Jesús Vázquez
Martínez, Alfredo Pacheco, president of the Chamber of Deputies, the general director
from Politur General Minoru Matsunaga, National Police, Digna Reynoso, director
General of Passports, Messrs. Max Rodríguez and Edwin López, presenters of the
North American Embassy, ​​among other public and military officials.

In addition, Yudelka García, director of Control, intervened to explain each area.
Immigration, Natanael Minaya, director of Information Technology and
Communications (ICT), and Enmanuel Fernández Tapia, Director of Intelligence
Immigration.
