Santo Domingo, RD.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM), was recognized by the Government Office of Information and Communication Technologies (OGTIC) and the Cabinet of Innovation and Digital Development, among 19 public institutions that implement innovation and digital development (ICT), to generate solutions for citizens and improve the internal efficiency of public entities.
Public entities were recognized through the ICT Use and Digital Government Implementation Index (iTICge), an instrument through which the internal efficiency and transparency of government entities in their processes is systematically evaluated, through the use of information and communication technologies.
Through the mechanism that serves as a thermometer to measure the efficiency of citizen services, the General Directorate of Migration obtained a score of 93.50, which is categorized as an outstanding institution in its performance.
Due to the achievements achieved, the general director of Migration, Venancio Alcántara, assured that the results of continuous improvement in the institution he directs are due to the willingness and will of each of the public servants to guarantee effective responses to citizen demands.
In a press release, the official reiterated that the current administration has proposed to transform the institution, promoting continuous initiatives aimed at improving, modernizing and making its services more efficient, together with the investments that have been allocated to promote more humanitarian and guarantee migration policies. to the fundamental rights of people.
During the recognition, the general director of the OGTIC and executive director of the Digital Innovation and Development Cabinet, Bartolomé Pujals, stated that this award celebrates the success of public institutions that have demonstrated outstanding performance in the implementation of innovation and digital government, as evidenced by the iTICge 2023 measurement.
Engineer Natanael Minaya Hernández, director of Information and Communication Technology, of the General Directorate of Migration, accompanied the general director, Venancio Alcántara, to receive the award.

Along with the General Directorate of Immigration, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the General Directorate of Customs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also recognized; as well as Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, among 14 other public institutions.
In this tenth version, the iTICge implements a separate measurement for entities that offer services to citizens, from entities that provide services to the government, in order to obtain a fairer, more precise and detailed evaluation of both sectors. On a scale score from 0 to 100, the index categorizes the results as low, from 01 to 69 points; medium, from 70 to 84 points; superior, from 85 to 94 points and outstanding, from 95 to 100.
In the category institutions that provide services to citizens, in first place, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources received the award with an outstanding result of 95.09; in second place and with a score of 94.95, the General Directorate of Migration. Likewise, in third place, with 93.50, the General Directorate of Customs.
In that same order, several personalities were recognized for promoting innovation and digital development in public administration, among them Dr. Milagros Ortiz Bosch, Carlos Pimentel, from Purchasing and Contracting, Rafael Santos, from Infierno, among other public officials.
