This action reiterates the guarantee of respect for human rights and the dignified treatment of migrants given by the DGM.

Santo Domingo.- Following the massive detention of illegal aliens in the Dominican Republic, the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) and the Economic Dining Halls (COMEDORES) agreed to install mobile kitchens in immigration interdiction centers to increase food supplies.

Vice Admiral Luis R. Lee Ballester, Director General of Migration, explained that with the operations to deport and repatriate 10 thousand irregular foreigners weekly, more food is required for the detainees and the personnel who are in the different detention centers.

He added that with these mobile kitchens, the dignified treatment and respect for the human rights of migrants is reiterated, in addition, time is saved and food is guaranteed for all those who are in the immigration interdiction center in Haina, in the province of San Cristóbal.

On his side, the director of the Economic Dining Rooms, Edgar Feliz said that the institution he directs will not leave anyone without lunch and dinner for those interdicted with the quality and hygiene that characterizes them.

He indicated that the installation of the mobile kitchens of the Dining Rooms will be permanent and will be extended to the other interdiction centers of the General Directorate of Migration.

In the first ten days of October, the General Directorate of Migration has deported and repatriated more than 13,703 illegal foreigners, 11,177 during the mass immigration campaign, and 195,907 so far this year.
