Migration deportes 1,774 undocumented immigrants during the first half of September

In a press release, the DGM reports that it deported 1,774 of those arrested in the operations for lacking legal documents to remain in Dominican territory.

SANTO DOMINGO .- During the intervention of 15 provinces and the National District, the General Directorate of Migration (DGM), arrested 2,127 foreigners of Haitian nationality, in migratory interdiction operations carried out in the first 15 days of September .

Migration inspectors, members of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Dominican Republic, the National Police and the Specialized Tourist Security Corps (CESTUR), representatives of the Public Ministry and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources participated in the interdictions.

The DGM report also indicates that the operations covered the Provinces of Azua, Duarte, Espaillat, Mirabal Sisters, La Altagracia, La Vega, María Trinidad Sánchez, Monsignor Nouel, Montecristi, Puerto Plata, Santiago, San Pedro de Macorís, Santiago Rodríguez, San Pedro de Macorís, Valverde, the National District and the municipalities of Santo Domingo Este and Oeste.

The detainees with irregular immigration status were sent to their country of origin by the border crossings of Dajabón and Elías Piña , according to the institution responsible for controlling the permanence of foreigners in national territory .

The director of the institution, Lieutenant General ® Máximo William Muñoz Delgado , affirms that he will continue making these interdictions throughout the national territory, in compliance with the provisions of Law 285-04, General of Migration.
