The DGM detains 1,442 Haitian nationals and repatriates another 1,892 in an irregular situation.

SANTO DOMINGO. – The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) detained 1,442 undocumented Haitian nationals in interdiction operations carried out yesterday in different parts of the country to control the presence of illegal immigrants.

The operations of the DGM units were deployed in Greater Santo Domingo where 144 people were arrested (78 of them in operations linked to hospitals), 125 in Santiago de los Caballeros, 58 in La Vega, 82 in Mao/Santiago Rodríguez, 342 in the East Zone, 19 in Azua, 16 in Barahona, 21 in Puerto Plata and 29 in Montecristi.

Likewise, in coordination with the DGM, brigades from the Specialized Corps for Land Border Security (CESFRONT) detained 67 undocumented individuals, the Dominican Republic Army detained 530, and the National Police detained another 9 irregular immigrants.

In addition, 892 illegal aliens were repatriated through the various binational border gates and handed over to Haitian authorities. These deportations occurred through Dajabón (134), Elías Piña (592), Jimaní (108), and Pedernales (58). Those affected came from the DGM’s detention centers for illegal immigrants, where they were processed and cleared.

These processes are carried out in compliance with national and international regulations and guarantee respect for human rights and the dignity of individuals.
