Santo Domingo Oeste.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) detained 98 Haitian nationals without legal documentation during simultaneous interdiction operations deployed in recent hours in Puerto Plata and various sectors of Santo Domingo Oeste.
As a result of operations by the agency responsible for the entry, residence, and exit of foreigners into the country, 75 irregular migrants were detained in the municipality of San Felipe de Puerto Plata. 48 of them were men, 15 were women, and 12 were accompanied by minors. All were sent to the Dajabón Immigration Detention Center, where they underwent biometric identification, fingerprinting, and vetting according to established procedures.
Meanwhile, in the La Guáyiga and kilometer 22 sections of the Duarte Highway and surrounding areas of the Pedro Brand municipality, 23 undocumented foreigners were apprehended, 13 of whom were men and 10 women. During the operation, a blue Yamaha motorcycle with no license plate was also seized. The detainees were taken to the Haina Reception Center prior to deportation to their country of origin.
Throughout all processes, foreigners with irregular immigration status were guaranteed their human rights and dignity, treated with respect and under the protection of national legal norms and international precepts to which the country is a signatory.
The operations were coordinated by the DGM and supported by personnel from the National Army, the Dominican Navy, the Air Force, the Cesfront (Center for the Defense of the Nation), the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Digesett (Digest of the Dominican Republic), and the Cuitran (Cuitran), among other security agencies.
The DGM reaffirmed its commitment to defending sovereignty, citizen security, and public order, and reiterated that interdictions will continue to be implemented as part of its comprehensive policy to ensure that all foreigners comply with Law 285-04, which regulates entry, residence, and exit from the country.
