SANTO DOMINGO.- The Director General of Migration, Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester, ARD, and a representation of the World Bank held a meeting to evaluate the objectives of the Multisectoral Response Project to Migratory Flows and explore the expansion of the cooperation of the multinational organization for the strengthening of the DGM.
The head of the DGM explained that during the work session, “we were exploring the possibility of expanding cooperation through an increase in the budget to support our institution in the development of capacities and actions that contribute to institutional strengthening through the improvement and documentation of processes related to the control and flow of migration in the Dominican Republic.”
The meeting is part of the initiatives of the body responsible for organizing and regulating the mobility of foreigners in the country to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation and continue modernizing the management of processes. Among these objectives is increasing technological capabilities to double the volume of data storage produced as a result of the migratory flow.
The World Bank was represented by Ana Aguilera, project manager, and Sandra Lara, director of multilateral cooperation. Also present were Wilfredo Lozano and Adria de la Cruz, executive director and project coordinator of the National Migration Institute of the Dominican Republic, respectively; and Casimira Guerrero, in charge of Monitoring of the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development.
Vice Admiral Lee Ballester was accompanied by Rear Admiral Juan Gilberto Núñez, ARD, Director of Immigration Control; Laura Maríñez, Legal Director; and Frigate Captain Esteban González, ARD, Assistant to the Director General.
