The DGM interdicts 1,198 Haitians and repatriates 525 Haitians caught in an irregular immigration status.

SANTO DOMINGO. – Interdiction units from the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) detained 1,198 Haitian nationals in irregular immigration status during operations carried out yesterday in different parts of the country.

Likewise, another 525 undocumented persons were repatriated through the border points of Dajabón (289), Elías Piña (91), Jimaní (105) and Pedernales (40), coming from the DGM detention centers and handed over by the operational units to immigration authorities of the neighboring nation.

The arrests were carried out with the support of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD), the Specialized Corps for Land Border Security (CESFRONT), and the National Police (PN), as part of measures deployed to strengthen immigration control nationwide.

The interdiction operations were carried out in the provinces: Greater Santo Domingo (235 arrested), Santiago de los Caballeros (88), La Vega (42), Mao/Santiago Rodríguez (75), East Zone (67), Azua (18), Barahona (09) and Montecristi (21).

The General Directorate of Migration reiterates that these actions are being carried out in accordance with the provisions of President Luis Abinader, in defense of the country’s security, stability, and sustainability, in compliance with the General Migration Law, and respecting human rights and the dignity of individuals.
